English

On Monday children returned to their classes after assembly to find green fun, giant footprints and food everywhere! After listening to some eyewitness accounts and checking the school cameras the children created wanted posters to try and catch this tall, green beast! We have started to read the book Billy and the Beast by Nadia Shireen- making predictions about what will happen and also describing Billy. Year 2 have learnt about the suffixes -ed to add to past tense verbs (play - played, scoot - scooted) and also how the suffixes -less and -ful can change a word (are you helpless or helpful, fearless or fearful?)

Maths

During maths lessons children have been getting used to using different maths resources and practising number formation and counting. We all love listening to the Big Numbers Song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0dJWfQHF8Y!

Art Project - Mix It Up

Our first project of the year is an art project called Mix It Up! Year 1 children have been learning about the primary colours and the colour wheel. All children have been exploring mixing the primary colours and year 2s have been focusing on creating different hues.

Attached to the blog is a knowledge organiser with key vocabulary and ideas on.

The half-term our theme for RSHE is Being in my World. In RSHE lessons we follow the Jigsaw Charter and use our Jigsaw pieces and Jerri cat to help with discussions. We will be thinking about being part of the class and belonging, rights and responsibilities and also rewards and consequences.

RE

During RE this half-term we will be focusing on Christianity and the question Does God want Christians to look after the world? We will be thinking about how it feels to create something special,  listening to the Creation story and how we can treat our world.
