English
This week the children will be planning and writing their own story based on the bare bones of the story Tadpole’s Promise. Children will be changing the characters and the setting and year 2 will be editing their stories at the end of the week to make sure they’ve used interesting adjectives and vocabulary in their writing.
Maths
Year 1
This week we have been doing some maths assessments based on everything we have learned so far this year.
We have also started to learn about fractions. We have used felt shapes and folded them in half to find that both sides are the same and so to find a half you need to split things into 2 equal pieces. Then we began to think about how to find half of an amount. We know that we need to create 2 equal parts so we shared our objects into 2 groups.
AT HOME
Can you find the shapes that have half shaded?
Year 2
This week the children will be doing some maths assessments based on what we’ve taught so far this year. This will help us to plan our maths for next term.
Here are some great games and apps you can use to support your children with this maths at home…

Seasonal Changes Science Project
This week we will be ‘feeling the weather’. We will be recapping the different types of weather we get in the UK and how this changes with the seasons. We will be looking at how the number of daylight hours changes in the different seasons and also how the seasons affect animals.
