This week...

is our last week of the project Animal Safari. We have been lucky enough to have a visit from a Vet this morning and the children learnt about how Vets look after animals. The children also got the chance to ask any questions. Alongside this the children have listened to the story Mog and VET. We are also looking at animal homes, habitats and climates. The children will learn about camouflage and how important this is to some animals. We will look at the book Animal Camouflage.

In phonics Reception are learning about the alternatives for the long o - o_e, oa and ow. Year 1 are learning about ou as in ow.

We are continuing to write a dictated sentence daily and week by week the children are really starting to become more independent, remember finger spaces and be able to check and edit their own work. This is also helping with their morning work where they have to come up with their own sentence to match a picture. We will be continuing with story scribes and acting these out too.

The children's daily stories are mainly animal themed again but on Tuesday aftrnoon the teachers will swap and read a story to a different class.

In maths we are continuing to look at patterns in numbers and how we can arrange a number differently eg -

I Can Show Numbers in Different Ways - Six - an Anchor Chart | TPT

We are really trying to get the children to be able to spot the patterns and use what they know to help them. e.g if they see 2 dots and 4 dots they know that makes 6 so don't have the need to count.

We have also got the visit to the circus on Thursday which I am sure will be a very exciting trip and the children will be able to tell you all about it!

We will be looking at what we have learnt in the projects so far by going through the floor books with the children. We will discuss what the children have enjoyed learning and doing.

In RE the children will continue to learn about special places and this week they will be looking at a synagogue.

They will also have their weekly yoga session.

Don't forget the children break up for half term on Friday and have a week off school. We hope you all have a great break!
