This week...

in our project Big Wide World the children will learn about the oceans and seas. We will also read the book Walk this World and learn more about climate and the equator. The children will compare different climates and look at where they are in the world and what this location might mean for weather.

In phonics we are looking at all the alternatives for the er digraph - er/ir/ur. The Year 1s are doing some work on adjectives and retelling the story of Oliver's Vegetables.

All the children will continue to complete a daily dictated sentence as well as writing their own independent sentence each morning.

In maths the children are continuing to learn about 10 and that the numbers 5 - 10 are made up of 5 and a bit. We are really focussing on learning all the number bonds to 10 by heart.

We are also revising number bonds to 5 so the children can recall them rapidly.

If your child would like to practise maths at home then don't forget about the free white rose 1 minute maths app - https://whiteroseeducation.com/1-minute-maths

In RSHE the children will be discussing changes that are coming up next year and feelings related to these changes. They will also be finding out which class they are in next year and who their teacher is. They will spend the afternoon in their class on Tuesday afternoon.

Don'f forget it's the FOGG summer party on Thursday after school.

Have a good week!
