Telling the time and Tadpole's Promise
Big Talk
This week we would like you to have a look at the picture below (Monet's Water Lilies) and to describe it. Can you use interesting adjectives? Can you use alliteration?
The long luscious grass stands proud beside the glistening water.

In phonics this week we are looking at words with a silent c. We know the silent c comes after an s and usually before a vowel sound. Here are this week's spellings...

science
scissors

English
We have started to look at the book Tadpole's Promise by Jeanne Willis and Tony Ross. We have started off the week by recapping apostrophes for possession and making predictions about what the tadpole's promise could be. Later in the week we will be using alliteration and adjectives to help us to describe a story setting.
Maths
This week is all about time. We have been recapping telling the time to o'clock and half past on an analogue clock and later in the week will be looking at quarter to and quarter past. We have been doing a range of activities including making the time on clocks, reading the time on clocks and also drawing the hands to show times on clock faces. As part of your home learning you could talk about the features of the clock, compare this to digital time, talk about the different times you do things in a day and where the hands are at different times of the day. For example-we have breakfast at 7:30an (half past 7)- the minute hand is on the 6 and the hour hand is halfway between 7 and 8.

Topic
As part of our All About Norfolk topic this week we will be looking at how plants thrive. We will be recapping on the different parts of plants and their purposes and then planting seeds in different environments to see which ones thrive.
