Miss Banner and Mrs Herron's Blog - week beginning 15.3.21
This is what we have been up to this week...
This week we have been continuing to paint in the style of David Hockney.
The children have chosen which painting to use as their inspiration and also whether to use watercolours and oil pastels or poster paint. The paintings that have been done so far look beautiful! We are also going to have a go at using the iPad to create pictures as this is is a style that he used.
The children have been experimenting with different brushes, sponges and using their fingers to paint with.
We have been continuing to do circle time and this week we have been discussing feelings. We have done a lesson about the brain, our emotions and what happens when our feelings are really big and we flip our lid Flip the Lid Poster. We have talked about strategies to help like breathing techniques, going for a little walk, talking to someone and having a hug. We will be referring to this a lot in class and also reminding the children about the different strategies. Every day we are doing a mindful minute to help the children build up a bank of calming activities that they can use when they feel the need.
We have had a daily story and continued to get used to using our social skills again by playing both inside and outside.
The children have also done physical activities every day as well as a PE session with Mr Brister. They have loved going on the big playground and using the trim trail!
We have been practising our phonics every day and recapping all the sounds we have covered so far. We have also been blending words every day and looking at the tricky words we have covered.
Have a good weekend!
