Last week HHS had the pleasure of welcoming Richard Bainbridge
Last week HHS had the pleasure of welcoming Richard Bainbridge, owner of Benedicts Restaurant in Norwich, to visit our Hospitality & Catering students.
Richard, is an ex-Hellesdon High student plus a highly regarded and respected chef within the Hospitality and Catering sector nationally. You may have also heard him on local radio, read his columns in the local press or seen him on TV on Saturday Kitchen. In 2015 he also appeared on The Great British Menu, which he went on to win.
Initially, Richard gave a motivational talk to the students about following dreams even if obstacles get in the way and to never give up. He also talked about his own journey to his achievements, and places around the world he has visited that inspired his cooking. Followed by where he is now with owning his own successful restaurant and his future plans for his business.
Richard did a cooking demonstration of one of his award winning dishes, a savoury doughnut with kohlrabi slaw, which the students were then able to taste.
It was a fantastic day and was thoroughly enjoyed by all the students and a trip down memory lane for Richard! Pictures below of the demonstration and Richard with Mrs Hilton, Instructor of Food Technology at HHS.
