Olive and Jade Blog 03/03/25

This week is Book Week...
We will be reading a different Little People, Big Dreams book every day and then doing an activity to do with the person from the book.
We will be reading David Attenborough and then we will go on an animal safari. We will learn about animals that live in the United Kingdom and those that live somewhere else. The children can do drawings of the animals that they see on our safari.
We will read about Mary Anning and learn about the work she did. The children will then be able to make their own ammonite out of clay.
Next up is Taylor Swift and the children will learn about her life. We will listen to some of her music and then make a musical instrument.
Then we will read about Hans Christian Anderson and learn about his life and what he did. The children will then make bookmarks inspired by his stories.
By the end of the week the children might have changed their minds about what they want to be when they are a grown up - the Little People, Big dreams books will hopefully inspire the children to dream big.
In Phonics Reception children are learning about y and high as an alternative for ie e.g. fly and high. Year 1s are learning ew as in ue e.g. new.
In maths we are concentrating on 5 and looking at all the different parts we can make out of 5.
We will also look at subitising with 5 and all the patterns we notice.
We will also be doing our dictated sentences and reading in class.
Have a good week!
