Olive and Jade Blog 10.3.25

This week...
in phonics Reception are learning ow as ou/oa e.g. snow and cow. Year 1s are learning aw/au/al as or e.g. saw, autumn, talk. We will continue to read with the children throughout the week. We will also be introducing library time one afternoon a week where the children will go over to the library, change the books that we have in class, explore the different sections in the library and have a story. We will also read the daily stories in class during the rest of the week. This week the stories at all about Winnie the Witch.
We are doing a dictated sentence every day so the children get lots of practice of the key skills and they are embedded in enough time before they go into Year 1. We will be continuing with story scribing and acting these out. We will also be continuing to practise our handwriting because lots of the children are still struggling to do an a correctly.
In maths we are looking at the order of numbers and using the language of more and fewer to describe them.
In Project the children are continuing to learn about toys in the past. They will all have a go at making a handkerchief doll. We will read the story Ivy Cottage which is a story about rag dolls.
In RSHE we will be discussing good and bad touch linking with the NSPCC Pants work.
In RE we will read the story Wake up it's Spring and discussing Spring and the signs we can see.
As Year 2 are out on their PE day omn Wednesday, Olive and Jade class will get to do a PE session with our coach Mr Lamb which we are sure they will enjoy!
We will also be playing both inside and out.
