This week...

in project we are exploring colour mixing - the children will paint their hands and mix one of their hands with a friends to make a new colour. We are also talking about healthy eating, making good choices and manners. We are also discussing similarities and differences between us and our friends and children around the world. The stories we will be reading in projects are -

White Rabbit's Color Book   Fairy Tales Gone Wrong: Eat Your Greens, Goldilocks: A Story About Eating Healthily: A Story About Healthy Eating: 1 : Smallman, Steve, Robert, Bruno: Amazon.co.uk: Books  At the Same Moment, Around the World

We are taking a week off direct phonics teaching as the children were showing signs last week that they needed some extra practice with listening, concentrating and following instructions so we are playing some follow my leader games and games that focus attention. We are also assessing the children's recall of the sounds we have covered so far. The children that know the first 6 sounds will be given a book and the level of that book depends on how their blending skills are. We will hear the children read once a week and change their book then. Please try to read a little every day with you child at home so they can really embed these early reading skills.

In maths we are looking at counting up to 3, how to make sure we are accurate and looking at how the number 3 is made up.

We are continuing with squiggle and dough disco to really help develop motor skills. We are also continuing to play both inside and outside.

We have started Marvellous Me in class too where a child is chosen each week to be Marvellous Me and they get to sit in a special chair and be the first in the line! They share with the class all the things that makes them marvellous and we put their words into a star which they will bring home.

The daily story in Olive class are all books by John Burningham and in Jade class they are Percy the Park Keeper books.

Have a good week!
