This week...
in phonics Reception children have been learning about ur and ir as alternatives for the er digraph e. surf and girl. We have talked about er normally coming at the end of a word. The Year ones have been learning ph as f e.g. ph e.g. phonics.
We are hearing all the children read this week as normal.
In Talk Through Stories it is our vocabulary week from Six Dinner Sid and the words are discovered, slip out, unlike, tough, damp, suspicious, believed and furious. We have heard some good uses of these words this week already.
This week is assessment week so we are not doing story scribes this week as all the children have written a sentence without any help so we can see what they can do independently. We are really pleased to see how much the children have progressed with their writing.
We are also assessing maths but we are still doing some mastering number work. We looking at how 7 is made up and all the different parts that can make 7.
We also had our very exciting trip out on Wednesday to Avian Dance which the children all thoroughly enjoyed and we hope you have heard lots about the day. They took part in street dance, acro, gymnastics and baton twirling. There will be a news story going on the website with some photos soon so keep an eye out for that!
Don't forget Friday is Comic Relief day and the children can wear red tops and donate money to the charity.
Have a good week!
