Thnis week...

We are continuing to practise the nativity ready for all of you to come and see it next week! The singing is going well and we are really impressed that the children with lines have learnt them well and are speaking with confidence!

In phonics in Reception we are doing ou (count), oi (soil), ue (fuel), er (term) and ar (car). The Year 1s are working on short vowel sounds.

In maths we are learning about the parts that make up a whole e.g. that 4 can be made up of 3 and 1 or 2 and 2. We watched the numberblocks episode the whole of me which brought the concept alive for the children. Click here to watch!

We are in assessment week and this week we have been assessing writing so we are not doing story scribes this week. The children are able to show us what they have learnt in their writing.

In Talk Through Stories we are focussing on the story Stick Man by Julia Donaldson which the children are thoroughly enjoying espceciall as it is quite a wintery story with Father Christmas in too! You can watch it here.

In RE the children read the story The Shepherd Girl of Bethlehem in relation to the Christmas story. We are also reading the story Troll Stinks and talking about how to stay safe online.
