Welcome back...
This week in phonics the Reception children are learning about ea as an alternative for the ee/y/e_e digraphs e.g. seal. The Year 1s are are learning ur and ir as alternatives for the er digraph e.g curl and stir. We will continue to hear the children read at least once in the week. We are really grateful to those who continued reading over the half term holiday as the difference is noticeable.
We will be doing 3 set sentences and about half the children can now manage this independently without support and the other half only need a little support. We also have a group who are working on the formation of letters instead of sentences at the moment.
We will continue to do story scribes and act them out. In Talk Through Stories, the vocabulary we are learning this week is- arrived, gigantic, growl, bossier, budge, suddenly and stroked. The children can earn team points if they use these words in a sentence throughout the week.
In maths we are learning how to compare two groups be using the language fewer than and more then. We will also look at making equal groups of objects. We are learning about subtraction as finding the difference using the part whole model.
In Project we will be looking at baby toys and comparing the materials that they made of in the past compared to today.
In RSHE we will be recapping flipping your lid, labelling our emotions and reminding the children about regulation strategies they can use. We will read the story Inside my heart and in my head.
In RE we are learning about Shrove Tuesday and reading the story Pancake, Pancake.
We will continue to play inside and out.
Have a good week!
