This week...
in phonics Reception children are learning about split digraphs (magic e) and how the vowels turns into a long vowel e.g. make hive. The Year 1s are learning ea as an alternative for ee e.g. bead.
We will be writing a set sentence three times this week and we are trying to focus on making sure our letters are the right way round and formed correctly. The children are getting better each week and being able to segment a word into the individual sounds so that they can spell it accurately or phonetically.
We will be continuing with hearing each child read and writing story scribes and acting them out.
Our new Talk Through Stories book is A little bit Brave and we read it for the first time this morning - the children loved it and it will be a good book to investigate this week.
In maths we are looking at the order of numbers from 1 to 5. We have looked at the Numberblocks and seen that they look like stairs going up by one each time. We are also looking at the numbers and making sure we can recognise them. The children will look more at partitioning a number into 2 parts.
In our Long Ago project, the children will learn about what a baby needs and how to look after babies. We will also discuss the difference between what the children could do as a baby compared to now.
In RSHE we are continuing to look at dreams and goals and thinking about what we might want to be in the future. The children will think about what they need to learn to be bale to do that. In RE we are looking at family traditions.
We will continue to learn different ways to help us regulate in our dots (mindfulness) session.
The children are continuing to get very muddy outside so please remember to top up the spare clothes at school when they bring them home!
Have a good week!
