This week...

in phonics Reception are learning alternatives for the or digraph - au (autumn) al (talk) and aw (saw) and the Year 1s are learning about the soft g when it is followed by a e, i or y e.g. gel. We will also be hearing readers in class as normal and having our daily stories and library time.  Please continue to hear your child read over the Easter holidays as 2 weeks is a long time to go without practising. We recommend your child practises reading their reading book for 5 minutes every day.

This week our Talk Through Stories book is 'Slow Samson' about a sloth who always misses things because he is too slow!

We are continuing with our daily writing of a dictated sentence - the children are doing brilliantly with these and if you wanted to continue this over the Easter holidays then that would be great. The sentence just needs to a simple one with words the children can easily sound out. e.g. We had a picnic, He got a dog, She can run fast. The children have their sound mats in front of them to help.

In maths we are learning more about doubles and also sorting objects into certain groups based on different features e.g. small, medium and large, colours, things that have spots and things that don't have spots.

In project we are learning about how paintings were used to capture the past before we had cameras, we are also learning about sculptures. The children will have a go at creating a clay tile of a face after listening to the story Katie and the Mona Lisa.

In RSHE we are learning more about esafety and we will read the book 'Once upon a time online'  to help get the messages about using the internet safely across to the children.

Once upon a Time... Online

We have a phonic hunt for parents to come along to and be with their child on Thursday - there was an email that went out last week with more details about this. It would be great to see as many of you there as possible.

We can't believe that we are two thirds of the year through and the children have only got one more term left in Olive and Jade class. It has gone super quick and the children have done brilliantly and learnt so much! We are so impressed with how far they have all come already!

We will start preparing the children for a move into Year 1 and 2 from when we return after spring break.

Have a great spring holiday!
