This week...

In phonics Reception are continuing to learn about long vowels and magic e which we also call split digraphs. Year 1s are learning y and high as alternatives for the ie digraph e.g. might, fly.

We are learning the words daring, stomped, adventure, scurrying, proud, familiar and gobbled as part of our vocabulary work in Talk Through Stories. A few of the children are starting to use these words in their every day conversations which is brilliant - there is also the reward of getting a team point if they use the word in context! The children loved working on the book A Little Bit Brave last week which is where the vocabulary comes from.

We will continue to write dictated sentences, write story scribes and act them out as well as writing cvc words every morning. The children are really focussing on getting the letters the right way around and correctly formed.

We will also hear readers throughout the week and it is lovely to see that blending is really coming on well. Remember the more practice they get, the better they will be!

In maths we are looking at adding one more to a number and also subtracting one each time through the song 5 little speckled frogs.

See a video of the song here although you probably know it! 5 Little Speckled Frogs

On Friday we are celebrating Number Day and will be doing some number related activities including making dice spot biscuits and learning how to write numbers and draw the right amount of objects to match a number alongside some other fun number activities like singing number songs.

Numbers All Around

See how many numbers you can spot on your way to school this week!

Have a good week!
