It's been a pleasure to see our school communities coming together with a renewed energy after the festive break. I hope you all had the chance to relax and recuperate and to spend time with your families and loved ones.
Many schools across the country ended the Autumn term amidst a flurry of lateral flow tests and an increase in absences. However, the start of the Spring term has felt much more positive and, although we remain cautious, we are hoping that the impact Covid-19 has on our lives will continue to decrease throughout 2022.
I'm especially excited to be starting the term by welcoming our first cohort of children to the new Specialist Resource Base (SRB), located at Arden Grove Infant & Nursery School. To have been selected by Norfolk County Council to deliver a specialist provision for children with significant social, emotional and mental health needs is testament to the growing reputation The Wensum Trust has in advocating a trauma-informed approach to education. We look forward to sharing more exciting news about the SRB opening with you soon.
On a much sadder note, you will read on to find this newsletter includes our tributes to two very special members of staff. The sudden loss of Gerry Batty and Tracy Lear has shaken our communities and affected everyone who knew them - including every child they inspired and every one of us who had the pleasure to work alongside them. Their legacies will continue to influence teaching and learning across The Wensum Trust for years to come.
