Learning to say a few words in German- Guten tag!
Geography
'Travelling' to Germany to explore some different famous physical and human features.
Maths
Comparing the weather in Norwich and Berlin (the capital city of Germany). The children learned about the symbols to show what the weather is like each day and compared the temperature in each city. Then we talked about similarities and differences between them.
History & PE
Learning about a famous German tennis player, writing a report about her & learning some tennis skills.
English
Listening to traditional German fairy tales & writing questions they might ask. We focussed on using our previous learning about how to say and write a question.
Art
Looking at work by the Swiss-German artist Paul Klee and creating their own castle inspired art work using printing. We have been exploring abstract art and focusing on the different shapes and patterns used.
Maths
Tasting some traditional German foods and learning how to use a tally chart and pictogram to show everyone's favourites. As part of your home learning you could have a go at doing a tally chart. You could ask your friend what their favourite colour is, favourite animal, how they get to school. Which is the most popular? Which is the least popular?
Music
Listening to music by a classical German composer and a modern song. Children will be drawing to music and comparing the two pieces of music.
