School Clubs
We offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities to our pupils, in addition to the normal curriculum.
Click on our Club Timetable page to view our current timetable of clubs.
The Heather Avenue Breakfast Club begins before the school day and The Heather Avenue After School Club takes place at the end of the school day. Both clubs are run by our school staff.
We run additional clubs during and after school - some are run by outside agencies and others by school staff. Please click on the items below to read more about each club.
Homework Club
At Homework Club, children keep busy doing things such as Maths homework. We select and use resources to help us solve math problems together. Children can also read to the teacher, go online to do School Jam, Reading Eggs or Busy Things.
Phonics Club
We love to learn our sounds and how to blend them to support our reading - Phonics club is a club for children who want to learn more of their phonics through fun and active learning activities. We also share wonderful stories which children love to listen to and enjoy!
Football in the Community led Club
The Multi-skills after-school club is run in conjunction with Norwich City Football Club's Football in the Community Programme.
Courses run for approximately 6 weeks and work on:
- FUNdamentals of movement
- Focus on agility, balance and co-ordination
- Various fun games
Certificates are awarded at the end of the course for all players.
Film Club
The children bring a healthy snack or popcorn to the hall and something comfy to sit on. Everyone then enjoys watching the chosen film together just like at the pictures.
Piano Lessons
An external piano teacher comes into school during the school day to teach pupils individually.
Lessons are typically 20 minutes and the children attend in pairs. Note-reading, ear training, beats/rhythm and keyboard technique are all covered during the course of the year, as well as developing the expression of ideas through music.
A piece of music is sent home each week for the children to practice so an instrument is required - this doesn't need to be a piano, a keyboard is just as good during the beginner stage. Theory worksheets are sometimes sent home too, to be completed and returned the next week.
Additional Clubs
There are additional clubs that run during the week, where children are able to focus on sports, health and emotional well-being.
