Why Work With Us?

Our Trust is built to allow our staff to focus on what they do best — teaching and supporting children. We value the contribution our staff make to our school communities and the dedication they show to our children and families. As a result, we are committed to supporting staff well-being, and are passionate about providing individuals with unique opportunities to develop their skills and to build on career progression.

We offer a competitive reward and benefits package to all our employees, which includes:

Generous annual leave entitlement

All members of support staff will enjoy at least 32 days of annual leave per year, which increases in line with length of service. (This is inclusive of bank holidays).

Generous pension schemes for both teaching and support staff

We operate two occupational pension schemes: Teachers Pensions (TP) for teaching staff and Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) for support staff. Both pension schemes offer flexibility in terms of additional contributions, and forms of retirement.

Incremental progression and cost of living pay increases

We pay in line with nationally negotiated pay scales for teachers and support staff, and therefore each year employees will progress on their pay spine until they reach the top of their scale. All agreed cost of living increases are applied annually.

Learning and Development

As part of our commitment to lifelong learning, all Wensum Trust staff engage in our annual performance management process. The process is designed to ensure that all employees have an individual, professional development plan and clear objectives in place as part of their continued personal development.

Commitment to staff well-being

In order to support employees both in both their personal and work lives, all employees are able to access free and confidential services to support with many aspects of daily life, which includes one-to-one counselling sessions.

Paid sickness absence

We understand that most employees will need to take sick leave at some point in their career, and therefore we provide paid sickness absence in line with the Burgundy Book for teaching staff and the Green Book for support staff.

Enhanced maternity and paternity leave entitlements

We offer a maternity and paternity leave package more favourable than statutory requirements in order to help working parents balance work and family life.

Cycle to Work scheme

This allows employees to obtain a bike for commuting to work, spreading the cost over 12 months and making savings through a tax break.

Eye care voucher scheme

All employees who use display screen equipment are entitled to a free annual eye test, including a contribution towards a pair of glasses if required for their role.
