Become a Partner School

Partner schools will receive bespoke support from one of our trained Literacy Specialists, who will help schools to provide excellent teaching in phonics and early language.  Our Literacy Specialists will focus on supporting the slowest progress children in Reception and Key Stage 1, to help ensure that every child is successful, regardless of their ability, background or needs.

Partner schools will also receive school-specific support from our expert team.  Literacy Specialists will be able to work directly with your school, supporting with writing an action plan, leading INSETs and developing teaching.

As part of this support, partner schools will receive a total of nine visits from a Literacy Specialist over the duration of the programme.  Visits will focus on how to improve data, resources, observe phonics teaching and plan how to support children to make progress.  Our trained Literacy Specialists will also work closely with the school's reading leader, using their audit to help make improvements to their reading provisions.  Reading leaders, reading teachers and intervention staff will also receive training and coaching to improve their knowledge, skills and confidence in delivering phonics lessons. 

Partner schools will also receive either £3,000 (match funded) or £6,000 outright funding, to use to improve or implement a consistent phonics scheme which can be taught with fidelity across their school.  Schools will also be invited to attend free CPD training sessions, offered by the Wensum English Hub and other institutions.
