Amanda Moffat has won a national teaching award for Outstanding Industry Engagement from the Design and Technology Association.

Amanda was nominated by the school’s Assistant Principal Bal Tawana who said: “High-quality teaching is key to developing the next generation of STEM professionals but it requires the whole community to support this endeavour and I nominated Amanda for this award because it recognises the educators that go above and beyond to support students pursuing STEM subjects. I have been staggered, not only by the number of STEM events offered to the students, but the quality of the learning that takes place.

“This award reflects Alderman Peel High Schools’ ongoing commitment to providing high quality STEM opportunities that enable young people to be successful in whatever area they move into after they leave school.”

On receiving the award, Amanda said: "I feel incredibly proud and privileged to have received this award in recognition of the work I have done linking with local businesses and our wider community. It was so great to attend the awards evening at the British Motor Museum and meet with fellow D&T teachers passionate about our subject.

"I would like to say special thanks to our STEM club sponsors, Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm via Norfolk Community Foundation, Scillitoe Bros Garage, Holkham Estate and Wells Carnival, for their continued support.”
