Health Day
Spring 1's half term value was Healthy. We kick-started it with an action packed health week and finished by inviting our parents and carers in for Health Day.
At our school we always promote being healthy in mind and body. We have weekly PE lessons in each class and even Nursery do their weekly yoga in the hall. Each class uses the outdoor classroom once a week to enjoy the fresh air and getting better at outdoor practical skills such as digging, den building, balancing and climbing.
We have brain breaks throughout the day to help our bodies move and our minds focus. We do meditation and relaxation to help calm our bodies and minds if they are busy and use mindful colouring to help focus on our actions and thoughts 'in the moment'. We eat a daily healthy fruit or vegetable snack while taking time to enjoy being with our friends and listening to a story every day.
All these things have helped us decide on the Healthy Value, and we enjoyed sharing this with our parents and carers.
We challenged them to speed stacking competitions, talked about ways to keep our bodies' health such as by eating a balanced diet and by brushing our teeth.
Finally, we finished with some calm meditation.
