Curriculum
During their time at The PLACE we aim to support children:
- To connect – learn to build trust in The PLACE adults and to learn adults are there to help them. To help children develop the skills to make and maintain friendships
- To be empowered – help them understand how to help their bodies and brains stay calm and help them understand and manage their emotions
- To have a voice - learn that their opinions, feelings, emotions and needs are important and valued.
Our curriculum is a mixture of child led play, explorations and developmentally appropriate adult led learning. Always being mindful of our children's emotional regulation, we engage and gently challenge them in 'sneaky' and irresistable learning, primarily planned around the seasons of the year, their strengths and current interests, whilst supporting children to grow mind sets and new talents.
In the first term of placement, our primary focus is to connect with children in order to stabilise them; building relational safety, trust and reengaging children in learning. Every child has a bespoke Self-Regulation Plan, which includes Maths and English tasks tailored to meet their individual needs.
