Arden Grove Infant and Nursery School Council Delivers Donations to Foodbank, Reflecting Empathetic School Values

In a heartwarming display of empathy, students from Arden Grove Infant School have shown their commitment to helping others by collecting donations for the local foodbank and delivering them personally.

As part of this term's focus on the school’s core value of empathy, the school council organised a drive to gather non-perishable food items for families in need. The initiative was a resounding success, with students, parents, and staff all contributing to the cause. Over the past few weeks, the school community generously donated canned goods, pasta, rice, and other essentials, filling several large boxes with donations.

The school's council members, along with their teachers, made their way to the local foodbank in the run up to Christmas to deliver the collected items and they were so excited to make a difference.

Josh Cook, Deputy Headteacher and School Council Co-ordinator, said: "We are so proud of our students for showing such care and compassion for others. This is a fantastic opportunity for them to put empathy into action, and it’s been wonderful to see how the entire school community has come together to support this cause."

The foodbank, which serves the local community, is a vital resource for individuals and families facing financial hardship. Volunteers at the facility explained the importance of regular donations and the role of organizations like schools in ensuring that those in need are supported.

As part of the school’s ongoing commitment Arden Grove is encouraging children to 'fill a sock' for the homeless and are creating festive cards and tags to accompany them.

Arden Grove continues to demonstrate how fostering empathy in young people not only enriches their lives but also makes a positive impact on the wider community. The foodbank donation is just one of many ways the school is teaching its students that small acts of kindness can lead to meaningful change.
