Careers Education, Information Advice and Guidance (CEIAG)
At Acle Academy we believe that good provision of CEIAG is fundamental in helping young people to reach their potential, broaden horizons, and explore their own career aspiration and to be ambitious. Equipping our young people to leave school and move successfully in to further education, employment or training has always held high priority at Acle.
The careers programme we offer takes a practical approach, giving students the employability skills so essential to both finding and being successful in their chosen path. We are committed to careers and work-related learning which includes a taught programme throughout years 7-11 with focus on employment skills and raising aspiration, understanding of career paths and opportunities are embedded within the whole school curriculum. There is a focus on linking students’ understanding of how subjects apply in the real world of work.
Our careers programme offers many opportunities throughout the school year for all students. The programme includes visits to businesses and the opportunity to get involved in taster days offered by further education providers, work experience and focused career guidance provided through a qualified Careers Councillor.
The main objectives for the careers programme are as follows:
- helping students to understand the changing world of work
- facilitating meaningful encounters with employers for all students
- supporting inclusion, challenging stereotyping and promoting equality of opportunity
- contributing to strategies for raising achievement, particularly by increasing motivation
Information for Employers
We are keen to engage with businesses and employers to help us inform and educate our students about the world of work and prepare them for the future. Throughout the year we have several events and activities in which employers can engage with students, these include business lunches, drop down days, work experience placements, careers fairs, CV workshops & more. We are always looking to involve more employers and businesses in linking careers to the curriculum. If you would be interested in supporting our work please get in contact via the school office or contact Mrs M Jacotine directly. We would also like to welcome past students into our alumni and appreciate their participation and involvement into our school events and activities.

Help You Choose
All students in Year 11 will be offered one-to-one guidance in an impartial manner focusing on the needs of the individual student, though some will choose to make their choices independently. We use Help You Choose as the common prospectus and every course available to young people in Norfolk is in the prospectus. It is a useful guidance tool in lower years and as a means of searching for post-16 courses, and using the CAP (Common Application Process) during year 11 for post-16 applications.
The programme aims to develop students’ confidence and independence, it aims to remove barriers to ensure students’ readiness to take their next step in their learning or career. It is our aim to ensure each student and their families are supported through the many decisions they will be making at key stages. Independent careers guidance is available via the National Careers Service - Any student or family member may access this useful resource and at any stage of their learning.
