Woodpeckers
Welcome to the Summer Term and our new topic - “My Amazing Body”
In Woodpeckers class, our topic for the Summer Term is “My Amazing Body”. The children will be exploring their senses, finding out about life-cycles and investigating how to stay healthy.
Our topics are integrated across the curriculum, throughout all subjects. If you have any interesting artefacts, photos or even experiences your child would like to share which would link to our topic, please talk to your child’s teaching staff to arrange bringing them into school.
During International Week, we will be learning all about India; the famous landmarks and buildings, and locating India on a world map. If you or your child would like to bring in any souvenirs or have any interesting facts, your teacher would love to hear or see them during our International Week!
Mr Davies (Monday–Tuesday) and Mrs McNorton (Wednesday-Friday) will be teaching in Woodpeckers Class, with Mrs Keeney and Mrs Lowe.
Please continue to check Tapestry as we shall be sharing the children’s work and the different activities we will be doing.
If you have any queries or concerns, or if you would like an appointment to see your class teacher, Mr Davies / Mrs McNorton will be available at the class entrance each morning. If a meeting is required, Mr Davies / Mrs McNorton can also be available after school. Please contact them to arrange this in advance.

PE
We have PE every Monday and Friday. We ask that your child wears their PE kit to school on these days. Please could earrings be removed, and longer hair tied back on PE days. PE kit should include black shorts, a white t-shirt, plimsolls and black tracksuit bottoms or leggings.
Please also ensure that your child has spare clothing in their bags in case of any toilet accidents. These should be kept in school on your child’s coat peg.
COOKING
The children will take part in cooking / food preparation activities throughout this term, learning a range of useful life skills linked to cooking. Food will be consumed in class in our daily snack session.
HOMEWORK
Maths
Maths homework should now be completed on School Jam, a Maths App linked to our Power Maths. A short task will be made available on a weekly basis for the children to complete, linked to their learning in class.
Reading
We will listen to your child read at least twice a week, but we ask that children are heard reading at home three times a week and that their reading diary is signed each time. For every three reads your child will receive one sticker on their bookmark. Once their bookmark is full they will be able to choose a book of their choice to keep! Children also have access to the online platform Reading Eggs.
