International Women's Day 2025

International Women’s Day (IWD) is marked annually on 8th March across the globe, celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.
The day also marks a call to action to accelerate women’s equality. As world-renowned feminist, journalist, and activist, Gloria Steinem, reportedly once explained: “The story of women’s struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist, nor to any one organisation, but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights.” At the current rate of progress, it will take until 2158, which is roughly five generations from now, to reach full gender parity, according to data from the World Economic Forum. As such, the IWD 2025 campaign theme #AccelerateAction is a worldwide call to acknowledge the strategies, resources and activity that positively impact women’s advancement, and to support and elevate their implementation.
At Acle Academy, we have launched a whole school poster competition to help raise awareness of this very important day and to encourage students to work together to support the advancement of gender parity in society. Details of this competition have been shared with students in form this week and in their year group Google Classrooms. All entries should be submitted to Miss Evans by Friday 14th March 2025. Please do encourage your child/children to get involved!
