Roan became determined to win a place at one of the world's most prestigious universities after visiting as part of Acle's Aspire Nine programme run by Mr. Sayce. Roan achieved five grade 9s and 4 grade 8s at GCSE and went on to study maths, chemistry and biology at Sir Isaac Newton where he achieved two A*s and one A. Roan is studying natural sciences at Girton College, Cambridge, and wants to pursue a career in biochemistry.  

Roan said, “I am extremely grateful for all the opportunities, encouragement and support I received at Acle, especially the visits to Cambridge University which inspired me to want to study here. It still feels like a dream come true - especially when I put my gown on for formal dinners in the hall - but if I can do it, it shows that anybody can!”
