Year 10 Netball Tournament at Aylsham
On Tuesday 24th September, there was a year 10 Netball Tournament at Aylsham.

Hellesdon High 2-1 North Walsham
The tournament opened with a tight match between Hellesdon High and North Walsham. Both teams displayed solid defensive strategies, but Hellesdon just managed to edge out their opponents. Despite numerous chances from North Walsham, Hellesdon’s defenders were resilient, allowing the home team to hold on to a narrow 2-1 victory. It wasn’t an easy win, with Hellesdon having to fight until the final whistle, but they came out on top.
Hellesdon High 2-2 Reepham
Hellesdon's second game saw them up against Reepham, a team that showed excellent coordination and skill. The match ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw, with both teams showing exceptional quality. Amy and Rose were the standout players for Hellesdon, working seamlessly together in attack. Their passing and movement were fluid, creating several scoring opportunities. On defense, Hellesdon were nearly impenetrable, with the defenders intercepting almost every rebound and frustrating Reepham’s shooters. Despite Reepham's strong performance, Hellesdon's tenacity helped them secure a well-earned draw.
Hellesdon High 2-1 Aylsham A Team
The clash against Aylsham’s 1st team was another highlight for Hellesdon. Aylsham came into the game with a reputation as one of the strongest teams in the tournament, but Hellesdon rose to the challenge. Anabelle’s presence in the centre third was crucial, creating space and opportunities for her teammates. Her vision allowed Rose and Melissa to feed the ball into Amy, who converted with clinical precision. Despite Aylsham's skill and determination, Hellesdon held firm and secured a well-deserved 2-1 win, marking one of their best performances of the day.
Hellesdon High 1-2 Aylsham B Team
The final game of the day was a heartbreaker for Hellesdon as they had been promised Ice Creams on the way home if they came away from the tournament undefeated. After a strong showing in their earlier matches, Hellesdon were confident but Aylsham’s B team proved a tough opponent. Both teams battled hard throughout, but in the dying moments, Aylsham managed to score a last-minute goal to steal a 2-1 win. Hellesdon fought valiantly, but the late goal ended their hopes of finishing the day unbeaten.
Overall
Hellesdon High delivered a fantastic performance across all four matches, finishing the tournament with two wins, one draw, and a narrow defeat. Amy and Rose were standouts in attack, while Anabelle’s leadership in the centre was crucial. The defense, intercepting rebounds and cutting off passing lanes, proved to be a key strength for the team. Despite the final defeat, Hellesdon can take pride in their overall performance, especially with their victory against Aylsham’s 1st team. Exceptional sportsmanship, teamwork and Hellesdon Spirit showed throughout the tournament. Keep up the hard work girls.
