Film Studies
Film Studies Vision Statement
We have a duty to educate our learners to engage with a digitally convergent world. We aim to equip them with the essential skills to decode media language and representations in a range of forms. We aim to teach learners how to interpret the connotations and representations within a wide range of media products. This involves enabling them to understand aspects of contextual knowledge (social, historical, cultural, political). Our aim is to adopt a democratic approach to learning, whereby no student is disadvantaged due to their socio-economic background. Students must also be given the skills to create their own media products as a tool of self-expression that will have value for whatever career path they take in the future.
