Remembrance Day and Children In Need

As a school, we have always been keen supporters of key charities. Two charities we have supported for many years are The Royal British Legion through the Poppy Appeal and Children in Need.

In previous years, we have sold poppies and other items to help the children commemorate Remembrance Day. For us as a school, it is important for the children to remember and show respect to those who gave their lives in wars and conflicts in the past. We have been commended for our fundraising efforts for the Royal British Legion in recent years. For Children in Need, we have enjoyed celebrating the day with non-uniform days, bake sales and other fundraising events.

Unfortunately, due to the current situation we are unable to do things such as selling poppies and having a bake sale. However, we are as keen as ever to help both these charities but we are going to do things in a slightly different way.

This year on Wednesday 11th November we are inviting children to wear a red accessory (e.g. red hair band, red socks, red sweat band) along with their normal school uniform. The whole school will also be contributing to an art project to commemorate Remembrance Day and as always, we will be observing the 2 minute silence at 11am on Wednesday. The art work is being completed in school.

On Friday 13th November we are inviting the children to come in non-school uniform (and any Pudsey bear accessories if they want to). We are asking that for coming in non-school uniform on Friday, a minimum of £1 is donated via Scopay. The total amount raised will then be split between Children in Need and The Royal British Legion.

We thank you in advance for your support.
