At Firside Junior School, we have developed a knowledge-rich, well sequenced curriculum to give our pupils access to the very best curriculum content to ensure that our pupils secure a solid base to build on as they move through our school, into Key Stage 3 and beyond. 

The Firside curriculum is designed with knowledge at its heart to ensure that children develop an extensive understanding of the world and a strong vocabulary base to be able to articulate their learning effectively.  Our curriculum promotes long-term learning, and we believe that good progress means knowing more and remembering more: it is carefully planned and sequenced to ensure that previous knowledge is built on.  WE have developed a curriculum built on current research about how memory works to ensure that children not only have access to the important knowledge they need but have the opportunity to revisit this knowledge so that they can remember the curriculum content in future years and build on what they have learnt.

We have identified 3 golden threads within our curriculum (which align with the national curriculum).  These are:
