Year 3 visit Wells-next-the-sea
Last week Year 3 went on a school visit to Wells-next-the sea as part of their Geography work comparing Norwich with this seaside town. Two pupils from Year 3 report on their day out.
On the day we travelled by coach and it took 1 hour. When we got there we were split into groups. One of the groups headed to the pine forest. We found out that there are 2.3 million pine trees planted here! From here, we walked down the beach where we collected shells. We were identifying differences between the shells and we used them to create sea art. The sea was really far out so we had lots of beach to use!
Another activity we did was we went to the Lifeboat Centre. We had a guided tour around the centre. We found out that the most recent boat is called the Duke of Edinburgh. We also learned that they have different boats for different types of rescues because some boats are only suitable for deep water. When we were at the Lifeboat Centre we also had to spot for dangers.
We also had to answer some questions in the town such as: what are the fish and chips shops called? What is the Main Street called? What is the main event that happened in Wells called? Did you know that the main event was the great flood when lots of houses were flooded by the sea.
Overall we had a lovely day. The sun did shine but it was quite windy!
